We at Natcast respect the privacy of visitors to our website, https://natcast.org/ (the “Site”), and want you to understand, as a Site visitor, what information about you we may collect through the Site and how we may retain, use, and disclose that information. This privacy policy (the “Policy”) describes our practices with respect to information collected from users of the Site. By using the Site, you are deemed to agree to the terms of this Policy, so please do not use the Site if you do not agree with these terms.
We may update this Policy at any time. Any changes to the Policy will become effective upon the date of our posting of the revised Policy on the Site. If we make a material change to the Policy, we will post a notice on the landing page of the Site to let you know that the Policy has been updated. If you visit the Site following the effective date of the revised Policy, you will be deemed to have accepted the Policy’s updated terms.
1. What Types of Information Does Natcast Collect?
The Site collects information through a variety of methods. The Site contains a form to subscribe to our email newsletter through which you may provide us with the following personally identifiable information (“PII”): name (first and last), email address, and company affiliation. We do not require that you provide this information in order to browse the Site or to otherwise engage with us. We offer the email subscription form so that you may receive email newsletters and announcements related to our mission and activities. Natcast will not add you to the Natcast email list without your validation through the email subscription process.
The Site includes a Careers page with a “Submit Your Resume” form through which you can provide us with information about yourself, including your resume, if you are interested in a career with Natcast. The Submit Your Resume form requests the following PII about you: name (first and last), postal address, email address, phone number, citizenship/residency status, any additional information you may seek to provide, and your resume.
The Site contains a Community of Interest opportunity for entities interested in participating in the National Semiconductor Technology Center. We provide a link to survey a (administered through Survey Monkey) on the Site for entities seeking to join the Community, which requests information on the entity as well as contact information (full name, title, phone number, and email address) for an individual who is a representative of the entity. Natcast uses the contact information provided by survey respondents to reach out for clarification or additional information about the entity seeking to join the Community. Natcast reserves the right to make public aggregated information from Community survey responses, but not individual survey responses.
The Site also offers an opportunity to submit information in response to Natcast Requests for Information (RFIs) about technology, facility, research and business needs relevant to the semiconductor industry that will aid Natcast in developing its program offerings. Like the Community of Interest survey, each RFI seeks contact information (full name, title, phone number, and email address) for an individual who is a representative of the entity responding to the RFI. Any information included in an RFI response that is confidential should be clearly marked as such. Natcast reserves the right to make public aggregated information from RFI submissions, but not individual submission details.
The Site also may automatically collect information about you that is generally not PII but relates to your use of the Site (“Usage Data”). Usage Data is “passively” collected from you through browser navigational tools, such as cookies, which can recognize your visits by identification of the computer or device that you are using to access the Site. Our uses of Usage Data are described further below.
2. How Does Natcast Use the Information It Collects?
- PII. We may use the PII that we collect about you for the following purposes:
- To Respond to Your Requests. To send you email updates about Natcast, including a newsletter or other forms of information, if you subscribe to emails through the “Updates by Email” form on the Site.
- To Evaluate Your Professional Qualifications. To consider your qualifications for a career with Natcast, if you complete the Submit Your Resume form on the Careers page on the Site.
- To Communicate With You About Your Interests. To reach out to you about input you have provided, such as in submissions in response to our Community of Interest survey and any of our RFIs.
- Our Legitimate Business Purposes. We use PII about you for our own business purposes, such as to help us improve the Site or our services, including by requesting feedback from you, and for related internal purposes such as data analysis and internal audits.
- Usage Data. We use Usage Data to help us improve the Site, such as by analyzing Site visitor trends, including usage of certain pages or functions on the Site, as well as the number of visits (users, sessions, and pageviews), the channels by which visitors arrive (search, social, direct, etc.), visit duration, and on-page behavior (scrolling and clicking on links or buttons).
3. With Whom Does Natcast Share PII Collected Through the Site?
- Service Providers. We may share PII with unaffiliated third parties who provide us with services, such as sending our publications to subscribers by email, and with the designer and host of the Site and others who assist us with technology, data analysis, or similar services. We do not share PII with unaffiliated third parties for their marketing or business purposes.
- Acquirers or Assignees. In the event of any reorganization, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of Natcast or its assets, we may transfer any and all information that we collect from Site users to the acquiring party or assignee.
- Entities Entitled Under Law. We may disclose PII as we believe to be appropriate in the following circumstances: (i) when required by applicable law, including laws outside your country of residence; (ii) to comply with legal process (iii) to respond to requests from public and government authorities; (iv) to enforce the terms and conditions for use of the Site, including this Policy; (v) to protect and defend our rights and property; (vi) to protect the interests of Natcast or others; and (vii) to permit us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain. We have no obligation to notify you of such disclosures, except as required by applicable law.
4. How Do We Maintain and Protect PII Collected Through the Site?
- Accuracy. If you would like us to correct, update or remove PII about you that you previously provided to us, please inform us as indicated in Section 9 below.
- Security. We use reasonable organizational, technical and administrative measures to help protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. However, no data transmission over the Internet or data storage system can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure.
- Data Retention. We will retain PII about you for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy.
5. Your Choices.
You may use the Site without providing us with any PII, and if you do provide your PII for purposes of receiving updates from Natcast, you may opt out of receiving further updates by contacting us as indicated in Section 9 below. 6. Collection of PII by Others.
- Tracking on Our Site. Other than Google Analytics, as described above, we do not currently allow others to collect the PII of visitors to our Site by tracking individuals’ usage of our Site and other websites over time. Our Site does not currently respond to a “Do-Not-Track” signal in user browsers.
- Other Websites. The Site may contain links to websites operated by third parties, such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology (“NIST”). These linked websites are not under our control, and we are not responsible for the privacy practices of any such unaffiliated parties. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the privacy policies and practices of any such third parties.
7. Use of the Site by Minors.
The Site is not directed to minors, and we do not knowingly collect PII online from any individuals under age 13.
8. International Transfers of Information.
By using the Site, you are deemed to understand and unambiguously consent to the collection and processing of your PII in the United States, with the awareness that the laws of the United States may not provide as much protection for PII as the laws of certain other countries or territories.
