Natcast Appoints Michael Splinter as Trustee Chair, Robin Abrams as Vice Chair

Seasoned business leader to guide board through next chapter of growth, innovation

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 17, 2025Natcast, the purpose-built, non-profit entity designated by the Department of Commerce to operate the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC) established by the CHIPS and Science Act of the U.S. government, today announced the appointment of Board Member Michael Splinter as the new chair of the Natcast Board of Trustees. A distinguished business leader and accomplished innovator, Splinter brings decades of experience and a vision for growth and collaboration to his new role. He will be taking over from Robin Abrams, who has served as interim chair since January 2024. Abrams will continue serving on the Board as vice chair.

Since joining the Board, Mike’s strategic insight has greatly contributed to Natcast’s progress and growth. Splinter is the former executive chairman of Applied Materials, where he led the company to global success in the semiconductor industry. With a career spanning more than 40 years, Splinter also held leadership roles at Intel Corporation and Rockwell International.
